Denison University’s Production of “You on the Moors Now”

“You on the Moors Now” by Jaclyn Backhaus at Denison University’s Hylbert Family Studio Theatre was a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  The play took four nineteenth century classic novels: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and intertwined the main female characters from each story.  These characters from the novels are friends in the play: Elizabeth Bennet, Jo March, Cathy, and Jane.  They each get to see the male main characters : Mr. Darcy, Laurie Lawrence, Heathcliff, and Mr. Rochester from their respective novels with new eyes, through the modern views of relationships.  This play definitely provided a new spin on these beloved books and characters and gave us some hearty laughs too- what a delight!
