The Little Drummer Boy by Ezra Jack Keats

The reader is in for a sweet treat with this precious picture book, which includes the song sheet music at the back of the book, “The Little Drummer Boy” with words and music by Katherine Doris, Henry Onorati and Harry Simeone. The little drummer boy sadly feels he has “no gift to bring that’s fit to give a king,” so he seeks to play on his drum while the animals keep in time (I can just picture the animals bopping their heads along). The story continues with the drummer boy playing the best he possibly can for “Him” (the baby Jesus). The illustrations really bring this story to life and stay true to its heart.

A Pirate’s Night Before Christmas by Philip Yates and Illustrated by Sebastia Serra

You’re in for a fun read with this delightful pirate Christmas tale! With imaginative adaptations of the “Night Before Christmas” in effort to make it more pirate themed, the story and illustrations do the trick! The reindeer are ‘played’ by seahorses and Santa is a pirate with a sleigh made of seashells. There’s even a Pirate Glossary included; humorous pirate language is used throughout this colorful picture book.

Santa Claus The Movie: The Legend of Santa Claus by Mary Oliver ~ Designed by Deborah Bethel
Many lovely photographs from the film are included in this picture book. It’s not necessary to see the movie in order to enjoy this colorful book. Artistic details with Santa, reindeers, and the wintery North Pole are evident. This book and film are quite visually appealing and encourage the imagination!

The Snowman Storybook (with words)
by Raymond Briggs

The original publication of this book did not include words. Truly, in my opinion, they are not necessary. But, still the words included in this publication move the story along nicely. The drawings are smooth and engaging, providing a visual comfort to the reader, which creates a cozy atmosphere. I fall in love with ‘The Snowman’ every time I see him again. The film version includes no talking and the listener only hears music while watching this dreamlike enchanting story.
